Abstract

With the rapid development of China's high-speed railway, passenger and freight trains travel speed and load are increasing.Because of the maintenance and repair of the railway system, it has become increasingly prominent that the wear and contact fatigue of wheel/rail rolling contact. Therefore, the problem caused by wear and contact fatigue is urgent to be resolved.

Through the establishment of ANSYS finite element model, the introduction of contact elements on the crack surfaces and the singular element at the crack tip, it is obtained that the stress intensity factors at crack tips. Specific research work carried out as follows:

(1) ANSYS finite element analysis software is used to model the problem. The bottom of the rail is fully constrained. Specify the moving load is applied on the top.

(2) A straight crack with a length of

, respectively, was analyzed. The stress intensity factor is

obtained for each length of cracks.

(3) The results showed that: (1) the stress intensity factor has two peaks, there is a crest. (2) the stress intensity factor increases dramatically with the increasing of the crack length. (3) If the crack is located inside the contact patch, the curves of the stress intensity factors K? snd K?? have a negative relation.
